Simply beautiful!!
This bowl is just lovely! The wood looks beautiful and it keeps my yarn from rolling all over the place.
The dishes were done. The house had gone quiet. I had been thinking about my knitting all afternoon, and finally there I was, settling into my chair with the project on my lap. A few stitches later, my yarn rolled onto the floor.
I leaned over to catch it, keeping one hand on my needles so I would not pull at the row. It had stopped just out of reach, beneath the chair. I remember looking at it and thinking: I have waited all day for these few minutes.
It sounds like such a little thing. It was a little thing. But those minutes mattered to me. I wanted to spend them making something, with my hands finally occupied by something I had chosen to do.
That small frustration became the starting point for Craft Lovers: a collection I wanted to begin with one useful object—a wooden bowl that gives working yarn a place beside the chair.
Sometimes I knit for someone else. Sometimes I have no occasion in mind at all. What brings me back is the feeling of a project slowly taking shape, one row at a time, beneath my hands.
The simple setup I had in mind
I had already made room for everything else. My pattern sat where I could read it. My lamp was angled over my shoulder. There was a spot for my tea, just far enough away from my elbow.
The yarn was the exception. I balanced it beside me or tucked it against the cushion, then shifted it whenever I moved. I had come to accept chasing it as part of knitting.
When I began looking at yarn bowls, the idea made immediate sense to me: give the ball its own space, and let the working strand pass through a guide.
I wanted something simple enough to leave out. Something I could glance at beside my chair and feel ready to pick up my project again.
That became my reason for starting Craft Lovers. I wanted to choose useful things for the small, ordinary moments that make this hobby worth coming back to. The bowl felt like the right place to begin.
I wanted the yarn to have its own place, so I could settle into mine.
The thought behind Craft Lovers
I did not invent the yarn bowl. What drew me to this one was how plainly its purpose showed in its shape: an open bowl for the ball, with a spiral cut into the side for the strand.
That spiral was the detail I kept coming back to. Because it opens at the rim, I can lay the working strand into it from above, with the project already on the needles.
I liked that the idea fitted around a project already in progress. There was no reason to start over or learn a different way to knit.
The rounded shape and wood-colored finish mattered to me, too. I wanted to choose an accessory that looked comfortable beside yarn, a well-used chair and the things already in my home.
And the name? Craft Lovers celebrates the people who find joy in making things, one stitch and one project at a time.
The practical detail I would check first is fit. A yarn ball needs room to move inside the bowl. I would choose a smaller working ball rather than squeeze a large skein into it.
These are the reasons I chose this style of bowl as the starting point for Craft Lovers:
When I picture this bowl, I picture an ordinary evening at home: a project on my lap, one working ball beside me and a stable surface within reach.
I would still reach for a project bag when taking my knitting out with me. And for a project with several colors on the go, I would want a different arrangement.
An open bowl also leaves the yarn exposed. It cannot keep a curious pet out, and it cannot undo a tangle inside a badly wound ball. Those are different problems.
The reason I chose it is much more specific. It gives the working ball a dedicated place, with a guide for the strand. That is the small job I wanted this first piece to do.
I wanted Craft Lovers to begin with something that belongs to a hobby people already love. Something with a purpose they can see.
So much of what I make ends up in someone else’s hands. I choose a color with a person in mind, or picture how they might wear something while I work on it.
That made me think about gifts for the person holding the needles. It can be hard to choose their yarn or guess which pattern they would like to make next.
A bowl felt like a thoughtful possibility: something for their making time. A way of saying, “I notice how much you enjoy this.”
I liked the idea of giving something to the person who is always making something for someone else.
I would still check the kind of yarn they use and where they like to work. A useful gift starts with paying attention.
Use a comfortably fitting yarn ball with room to move inside the bowl. Large skeins and bulky balls may be unsuitable; winding a smaller working ball can help.
Yes. Place your working yarn ball in the bowl, then lay the strand into the open spiral guide. Continue with your usual needles or crochet hook.
The bowl keeps your working ball in one place and guides the strand. It cannot remove knots or tangles already inside the yarn.
Each bowl is supplied in the wood-colored wood-wax finish. Your bundle contains the number of bowls you select. Yarn, needles, hooks and other styling accessories are not included.
Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. Keep it dry, avoid soaking and store it away from prolonged direct heat or moisture.
Orders ship within 2–3 days. Estimated delivery is 6–12 days after dispatch. Tracking details are sent after shipment; carrier delays may affect arrival times.

If you recognized that moment—the project finally on your lap, the yarn already making its escape—you will understand why I wanted to start here. Take a closer look at the bowl and decide whether there is a place for it beside your next project.
First, the yarn. I would leave room around the ball so it can move inside the bowl, rather than choosing the tightest possible fit.
Then, the spot. I would put it on a flat, stable surface close to where I work, with a clear path for the strand.
Finally, the contents. This is one wooden yarn bowl. I would use it with my own yarn, needles and project; those supplies are not included.
